The Curaçao Ports Authority (ISO 9001 & 14001 certified), a limited liability company whose main shareholder is the government of Curaçao, has managed all of Curaçao’s ports since 1981. CPA has two subsidiaries: KTK Tugs and Curaçao Pilots Organization (CPO). It also has a joint venture with the Dutch Regional Training Center in Vlissingen, The Netherlands. CPA owns the container & cruise terminal and most of the wharves and properties adjacent to the harbor, which are leased to private operators. CPA also coordinates pilotage and regulates all vessel movements in the ports. Its responsibilities include i.a. ensuring safety and security (ISPS – IMO), access coordination, port maintenance & development and the management of the bridges and ferries. Moreover, CPA is responsible for commercial development of the ports and overseas promotion.

 

All harbor services are provided by ISO-certified companies. The port cluster offers a broad range of services, including one of the region’s largest dry-docks, the Caribbean’s largest crude refinery, stevedoring, state of the art bunkering facilities, waste management, tug services, pilotage, offshore services, training & surveys and 2 cruise terminals. In 2013, the cruise port of Curacao has been ranked number one in the world by passenger growth (41 percent)
